Do you cloth diaper? I do!

Hello!

I am a mother to three, and never in a million years thought I would cloth diaper. It would be gross, I didn't want poop in my washing machine, and it would take too much time, right? Wrong. After a gentle shove from my BFF, I decided to cloth diaper my third child, and WOW was I proven wrong! I ordered 12 BumGenius 4.0 diapers, some cloth wipes, a canister of Charlie's Soap, and I was on my way. I was amazed at how easy it was, even with a newborn. I quickly ordered more diapers, and am now a full time CD mommy. The only time he is in 'sposies is when I am doing my monthly stripping. Yuma has such hard water, it's not easy to get all the ammonia out. I have recently tried Rockin Green detergent, and their Funk Rock (an ammonia buster) and am pretty happy! I had some issues in the beginning with the diaper smelling clean, but stains remaining, but I sent them an email, and had a response in 30 minutes. How awesome is that?! Apparently, I had the hot/cold time reversed, and it made a big difference! I only have pocket diapers and a few Flips, but am interested in trying prefolds. My main concern is that I thought I was alone in Yuma on this journey, but I have found that I am not! I would like to kind of have this as a support group for parents who are interested in trying, so they can be properly educated on how easy and affordable it can be to diaper babies! However, to create a support group, we need parents who are willing to share their stories, and help others who need it. So, what's your story? What made you cloth diaper? If we can get enough people involved, I will even do a giveaway, so tell your friends!!
Thanks all!
Terri

  1. I am so excited to find more local CD moms! I am currently waiting to start CDing my 3rd child, he/she is due anyday!!

I partially CD'd both my other kids (7+ years ago). I found cloth after I had my son and was tired of buying disposables. I bought some supplies off ebay (to help my up front cost) and did great while we were home. I did still us sposies while out and at daycare. I fell off the CD wagon when I got pregnant with my daughter. I was lucky to start with her after birth, but once she grew out of the size I had we switched to sposies. This time I am prepared and ready for the long haul!

  2. Congrats on the new baby, and I wish you a speedy delivery! How have the diaper options changed in the last 7 years? Do you know other moms that CD?
